Membership
We believe membership is crucial for the body of Christ. The difference between those who attend a church and those who are members focuses on commitment – to each other and to the body of Christ.
Why join First Baptist Church of Anchorage?
We ask you to commit to membership for four reasons.
1. A Biblical Reason: Christ is committed to the church.
Christ loved the church and gave His life for it.
2. A Cultural Reason: It is an antidote to our society.
We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything.
3. A Practical Reason: It defines who can be counted on.
Membership identifies our family.
4. A Personal Reason
: It produces spiritual growth.
We are accountable to one another for spiritual growth.
How to join First Baptist Church of Anchorage?
There are three ways a person may join First Baptist Church. They are:
1. Profession of Faith/Baptism
When a person accepts Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, thus becoming a new Christian, they may request membership by publicly professing their faith and asking for baptism. If a person is a Christian but has not been baptized by immersion, they may request membership through baptism.
2. Transfer of Letter
If a Christian is a member of another Baptist Church, they may request membership by asking that we accept them into our fellowship on promise of letter confirming their membership in a sister church. The Church Office contacts the sister church and requests the letter for transfer of membership.
3. Statement of Faith & Previous Baptism
If a person is a Christian but not a member of a Baptist church, they may request membership by giving testimony of having accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and having been previously baptized as a believer by immersion.
