COVID-19 Update

Good evening First Baptist,

If you are like me you are getting a little tired of being stuck in the house.  The sun is shinning and I desire to fellowship with friends and family.  After all we have been in all winter right…   We need to remember that God is in control, He will decide with this is over.   My wife and I were talking this morning about Jesus fasting in the wilderness for 40 days alone, just Him and the Father.  We need to seek the Father more than ever, for comfort and peace.  I ask you to please find ways to reach out and encourage each other.  I fear as folks will try to prevent transmission of Covid-19 but may slip into depression.  Our house spent time on “Zoom” a FREE video chat program last night playing a game of Yahtzee with our son and daughter-in-law, they only live about 5 miles away but they are quarantined due to travel back from Florida recently.  Point is it was a blast, should have thought of it sooner.

The deacons met again on Thursday night, via teleconference.   I really appreciated hearing Chelly and the team Leroy and Sheila calling the rosters to check on folks.  (forgive me if I missed someone).  Looks that most needs are met by other family members or neighbors and friends, with that said you never know when someone may start to show signs of illness and that life line is gone.  We as a church body plan to keep a finger on the pulse of our members.  If you would like to be a part of the team to make regular calls to our flock please let the office or I know.  We also discussed the near future and direction, we decided to extend the “No Activities” and stay the course until April 12th as it worked out the next day the Governor’s office extended the “Hunker Down” order till the 14th of April.  We will continue to evaluate as the weeks go on.

  1. I want to remind you to please find other ways to fellowship and encourage on another. (share ideas, especially as we get closer to Easter)
  2. Wash your hands: the CDC says if you are willing to wash your hands with hot soapy water for 20 seconds you will help limit the spread of this disease.
  3. If you have to cough or sneeze, cover your mouth with your arm or tissue – it makes a big difference.
  4. If you or your family are sick, we want to encourage you to stay home to help prevent the spread of this disease.
  5. Avoid unnecessary contact. This includes shaking hands and hugs.  Please avoid these activities, I know it will be tough within our family but truth is, God is on our side.

Romans 8:31 “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

The DOORS WILL CONTINUE TO BE CLOSED AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH but the walls do not hold back what the Lord is doing, please tune in to our WEBSITE, FACEBOOK, OR YOUTUBE.  We have drastically improved our recording capabilities.  Let me know if you are having any issues, please.

Seeking His will,
Dave

Where to find the link to PushPay? Is it some where on the church’s website?

Sorry, currently we do not have it on the website, should be fixed by Monday. Meanwhile we do have the app up and running. If you search “fbcanchorage” in your app store it should pop right up by eChurch. I hope this helps and thank you
