What to Expect

Whether you’ve attended church your entire life or have never been to church, we know it’s not easy being a guest at a church for the first time. You’re probably not sure what to expect and have a lot of questions. We at First Baptist Church want to give you the best experience possible.

Here’s some information that should help

When are services?

Sunday School: 9:30 am
Sundays: 11:00 am and 5:30 pm
 – Services last about 1 hour
Wednesdays: Meals at 5:00 pm and Children’s and Adult Studies at 6:00 pm

If you have children, we recommend that you arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to give you enough time to check-in for children’s church or nursery with our electronic system.

What should I wear?

Whatever you want! We welcome jeans, t-shirts, ties, suits…you get the idea. Come as you are.

How do I get there?

First Baptist Church is located at 1100 W. 10th Avenue.  By clicking the Location bar above, you can view the address in Google Maps.
Simply we are at 10th and L at Park Strip.

When I arrive where do I go?

We have a large parking lot that wraps around the building. As you enter the 10th Avenue side the front entrance is on 10th Avenue with the Education wing being the glass entrance extended into the parking lot.  We also have a handicap accessible entrance on the backside of the church.  Greeters will be at each of the three entrances to help direct you and answer any questions that you may have.  While you wait for the service to begin, feel free to grab some coffee, enjoy the music, read about upcoming events in the bulletin, and complete as much information as you feel comfortable sharing on the Connection Card (attached to bulletin).  The tear off Connection Card will be collected during the offering.

What’s service like?

First of all, you are our guest and you won’t be pointed out or made to feel uncomfortable in any way. You will have a meaningful, stress-free experience…and a fun worship experience.  Each service is about 60 minutes.  The service usually starts with the pastor making the needed announcements or baptisms.  Then we have a time for you to prepare your heart for worship in silent prayer as we prepare to enter His presence, Exodus 19:10-11.  We will then have around 15 to 20 minutes of worship music that glorifies, edifies, and ministers to the believers as “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear, and trust in the Lord” (Psalm 40:3).  We’ll have the words to each song up on the screen, so you can sing as much as you feel comfortable! Then, after the offering, our Pastor presents a message from Scripture that teaches, equips, and edifies, (II Timothy 3:16) and is applicable to everyday life.
